Movies, movies, movies!
Been a while since I wrote movie reviews. Completely slipped my mind that I have been watching plenty of movies lately!!
Here they are
Paranormal Activity

So, here’s another one of those “Blair Witch” or “Cloverfield” or “Quarantined” type movie. Strange how it came out 2 years ago and has been released in theaters only just. Just as all the movies I have mentioned, which are in the same genre of super shaky, nauseous type films, it gave me a mild headache after watching it. I wouldn’t say it is extremely “frightening” as the critics put it, but it is definitely eerie. Just like how “The Exorcist” was really eerie, this one was too. It gave me goosebumps having the thought it could be real and I had nightmares that night… lol. Seems so silly now but at the point in time, it was pretty bone-chilling if you let it get to you like I did. It helped to know it was all fiction!!

Saw VI

When you have 5 sequels following the first movie, you might as well turn it into a TV show, jeezĀ (uh-oh, shouldn’t put any ideas into those Aussie writers). One thing’s for sure, ‘em Aussies sure are a brutal, violent, very grossly imaginative lot! I guess since I have been following Saw since the very beginning, I was still pretty entertained as opposed to Hikaru who wasn’t feeling the best in his tummy (forced him to watch it with me cause no one wanted to or wasn’t free :/). Not to mention he was pretty lost since he didn’t see a single Saw movie until this one. It wasn’t superb… but I doubt any following Saw movie will ever beat the classic first one. Still, I’m in too deep. Even if a 7th one comes out (which I have little doubt it would), you will definitely see a review on it… fortunately or unfortunately. We’ll see about that.

2012

I heard good reviews and bad reviews before watching this movie. So I kept an open mind and… I actually liked it! I am a huge observer of cinematography and the CG in this movie was pretty amazing. Yes, it is your typical “Oh, dear, the world is ending… yet again.. for the billionth time” but it did have good action scenes and those narrow escapes that always put you on the edge of your seat. Plus, a movie that makes me cry (which movie doesn’t, gosh… in fact it’s the ones that don’t that are crappy) will always be in at least, my semi-good books as it manage to somewhat touch me. Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Yes, it’s predictable… yes, we know everyone’s gonna die (or DO we? ;p)… but still, least the action element isn’t lost!

New Moon

Holy moly. I don’t think I’ve written this many reviews in one post before!! Anyway, as always, it is difficult to review a book-turn-movie movie. Yes, the book was great, we can all agree. And we all know the movie will be less great than the book. And you know what? If that is what we think, we are absolutely right. Still, the movie made vast improvements prior to the last one. New director? Acting improvements? The fact that Taylor Lautner is super ripped and drool-worthy in the movie? Could be either one. Yes, the acting has somewhat improved (especially Bella.. but then again, if she didn’t improve, she would definitely need to be booted off the cast), which is a relief. It was almost painful to watch the horrendous acting in Twilight. Taylor Lautner (Jacob) definitely made the movie worth watching… *drools*. I must say though, the CG for the werewolves is seriously disappointing. Other than that, it turned out to be a vast improvement than the first, which all in all, made it quite enjoyable to watch! (Due to my severely low expectations..)
